Shinkansen Services Resume Following Power Outage
Yesterday, on January 23rd, around 10:00 AM, the Tohoku, Joetsu, and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines experienced a power outage due to overhead wire troubles, leading to the suspension of operations on certain sections throughout the day.
As of early morning today, on January 24th, restoration efforts have been successfully completed, and services on all three Shinkansen lines have returned to normal operation, starting from the first train.
The cause of the power outage is believed to be related to a situation where the Shinkansen entered an area with hanging overhead wires, detected an anomaly, and triggered the power outage.
However, the exact details remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing to shed light on the incident.
For those who had reserved tickets for the Shinkansen services that were suspended this time and were unable to board, you can receive a refund directly at the JR station counter (within one year from the intended date of travel).
