Free Wi-Fi available at major Shinkansen Stations from March 2018
Here comes great news for those seeking for free network connection at Shinkansen stations and on board.
Starting from March 2018, free Wi-Fi will be introduced at all 17 Tokaido Shinkansen stations (listed below), including major stations such as Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto and Shin-Osaka.

You can access free Wi-Fi near any JR-Central Wi-Fi sign or sticker (Please follow the guidance written on the sticker for details).
Also, JR Central has recently announced that free Wi-Fi will be available on board all "N700A" series Tokaido Shinkansen trains and the Limited Express Train "Wideview Hida" from summer 2018.

Your seat is reserved and secured when you book your tickets. Head to the station with a peace of mind.
Seats are the same as Ordinary Seat.
Green Reserved Seat
Better seats and free blankets. Popular among Japanese business persons, executives and people who
GranClass
Know as "First Class" of Shinkansen seats. Only available on Hokuriku and Tohoku Shinkansen lines.
Unreserved Seat
You can take any open seats in unreserved cars of any train on the departure date. (No departure time will be indicated on your tickets.)
The best seat type if your priority is the cost and are traveling during less-crowded season/time.
