Taking the Shinkansen and Ticket Usage
- Make sure to arrive at your departure station before your scheduled departure time (ideally, at least 30 minutes prior, as finding your platform can be challenging).
- You can proceed directly to your platform with your ticket; there's no need to activate or purchase additional tickets at a ticket counter.
- Please keep your ticket with you at all times during your journey because you'll need it again when you exit your destination station.
- We are unable to reissue tickets, so please take care to avoid losing them.
If you happen to miss your reserved train (for Reserved tickets only)
- You have the option to use your ticket for an unreserved seat (in an unreserved cabin) on later trains scheduled for the same day.
If you wish to change the date and time of your train:
- You can make changes to the train's date and/or time as long as it's done BEFORE the departure time indicated on your ticket.
- To make these changes, please visit a ticket counter at any JR train station.
- If you are unable to change the ticket or encounter communication challenges with station staff, please follow the cancellation process.
- In such cases, please purchase a new ticket directly at the station.
- We will arrange the refund for you at a later date.
If you need to cancel your ticket:
- Please follow the instructions on this page to complete the necessary procedures.
If have lost or accidentally left your tickets in your country:
- Please follow the instructions on this page to complete the necessary procedures.
How to Check if Your Seat has an Oversized Luggage Space
