Planning to visit Mt. Fuji from Tokyo?
The train between Shinjuku and Kawaguchiko is one of the most convenient ways to reach the Fuji Five Lakes area. However, tickets for this route often sell out quickly due to limited seats.
To make travel planning easier, Shinkansen-ticket.com will introduce a new reservation system starting in March 2026.
This new system allows travelers to secure seats more reliably by booking more than one month in advance.
Why Shinjuku–Kawaguchiko Train Tickets Sell Out Quickly
The Shinjuku–Kawaguchiko limited express train is one of the most popular transportation options for travelers visiting Mt. Fuji.
However:
-
The number of seats is limited
-
The route is popular with both domestic and international travelers
-
Tickets often sell out soon after they are released
As a result, last-minute reservations can be difficult.
New Reservation Rule Starting March 2026
Starting March 2026, Shinkansen-ticket.com will accept reservations for this route only for travel dates more than one month in advance.
Travel dates within one month will no longer be selectable.
This reflects the reality that tickets are often already sold out by the time the travel date approaches.
Tickets Secured Automatically on the Release Date
If you book more than one month before your travel date, we will arrange your ticket on the official release date on your behalf.
This means you do not need to:
-
monitor ticket release times
-
compete for seats at the exact moment tickets go on sale
Your seat will be arranged automatically once reservations open.

Because of its popularity, transportation to the area often reaches full capacity during peak seasons.
