From April 24 (Fri) to May 6 (Wed), 2026, all Nozomi Shinkansen trains operating between Tokyo and Hakata will run with reserved seats only.
🚫 No unreserved seating will be available during this period.
*The Nozomi is the fastest category of Shinkansen.
❗️Peak Departure Day: Heavy Demand from Tokyo
Golden Week departures from Tokyo are expected to be extremely busy, especially on peak travel dates.
Morning trains heading toward Kyoto, Shin-Osaka, and Hiroshima are likely to sell out quickly, with availability becoming very limited even several days in advance.
🕑 Afternoon departures may still have some availability, but seats tend to fill rapidly as the date approaches.
❗️Return Rush: Trains to Tokyo Fill Up Fast
For return travel, trains bound for Tokyo—particularly around the end of the holiday period—also experience high demand.
Midday departures are typically the first to sell out, followed by other time slots shortly after.
