Getting there

Two ways to reach Kiroro

The gateway is Otaru, the historic port town near Kiroro. Come the scenic way overland from Tokyo, or fly into New Chitose and transfer by rail — then it's a short taxi up to the resort.

From Tokyo by train

There's no scheduled public bus and no taxi rank at Kiroro, so reserve a taxi in advance, especially for the Kiroro → Otaru direction. Fare from central Otaru to Kiroro is roughly ¥12,000+ one way, about 40 minutes (higher at night or in heavy traffic). Contact: Otaru Tsubame Taxi, ☎ 0134-27-2111.

By taxi — about 40 minutes, roughly ¥12,000+ one way. There's no taxi rank at Kiroro, so reserve in advance, especially for the return to Otaru (Otaru Tsubame Taxi, 0134-27-2111). A seasonal Otaru–Kiroro ski shuttle bus also runs on a fixed timetable (reservation required) as a cheaper alternative.
What's the easiest Kiroro access from Tokyo?
Take the Hokkaido Shinkansen (Hayabusa) to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto, continue by limited express and rapid via Sapporo to Otaru, then a taxi (about 40 min) to the resort. Flying into New Chitose and taking the Rapid Airport train to Otaru is much quicker at about 1.5–2 hours.
