This blog is brought to you by Riku, our Alert Ranger — your trusted source for the latest alerts on typhoons, earthquakes, delays, service suspensions, and alternative travel options.
As Typhoon No. 6 affects parts of central and eastern Japan, many travelers are understandably concerned about possible transportation disruptions.
As of 9:30 AM, the Tokaido Shinkansen (Tokyo – Nagoya – Kyoto – Shin-Osaka) continues to operate normally, and no planned suspension has been announced.
Some limited express services, including the Narita Express (N'EX), Azusa, and Fuji Excursion, have experienced cancellations on certain routes. In addition, the Hokuriku Shinkansen is currently suspended on part of its route. Travelers are advised to check the latest operation status before departing.
For the most up-to-date information, please refer to the official JR East service updates below.
Weather conditions can change quickly, and delays or service adjustments may occur depending on the typhoon's path and intensity.
If you are traveling in Japan over the next few days, we strongly recommend checking the latest official railway information before heading to the station.
